WE CAME, WE SAW, WE DID.
Today marks the end of 56 fantastic days of #Doing. We’ve learned new skills, experienced epic thrills and left no day unconquered. So let’s reminisce on the last eight weeks, and relive some of the best Summer of Doing moments:
DIYing »
#DIYing kicked it off, challenging us to make, brew and grow things we’d never thought to try ourselves. Meg Paska, the Brooklyn Homesteader, guided us through the finer points of bees and beer.
EATING »
Hungry from all the hard work, we dug into #Eating – nomming out of food trucks, on top of blankets, and even in our own backyards with Food52 as our sous chef.
CELEBRATING »
The week of July 4th brought out our inner party animal, so we went #Celebrating in style. And Jordan Ferney of Oh Happy Day lent us her best party planning (and party starting) tips.
GIVING »
After our week of fun and frenzy, we shifted gears to #Giving. We learned from Annie Fox how important it is to teach kids to be nice, and even teamed up with DoSomething.org.
WANDERLUSTING »
Then we got restless. So with  Midlife Road Trip as our co-pilots, we discovered and shared the most beautiful and unique places to explore. And so did you.
RIDING »
Feeling a need for more speed, we went #Riding. Gretta Kreusi showed us the ropes of Kite Surfing while Darryl Kotyk shared his love for bikes. Horses and skateboards made appearances, too, naturally.
JAMMING »
We turned up the volume for the week of #Jamming, creating a custom Spotify playlist for each word, with a hand (and ear) from Andy Grammer, who also crowned our first-ever Bing Air Guitar Champion.
COMPETING »
The summer had a strong finish with the week of #Competing, where we took cues from across the pond (and from Dhani Jones) on sports everyone should try at least once.
Throughout the summer, each word of the day was given the ultimate treatment, with beautiful images and inspiring Typography to match. Learn more about the brilliant typographers who collaborated with us, and find out why they’re just our type.
Thanks for spending the summer with us! Share your best summer moments, and what you’re #Doing next, on Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, and Pinterest.

Hard at work. A born and bred New Yorker. In the city that never sleeps.

A FEW WORDS WITH…JON CONTINO

We’ve been longtime fans of Jon Contino, and his signature style of hand-drawn lettering. So, we were thrilled to collaborate with this self-proclaimed Alphastructaesthetitologist, and put his vintage-meets-modern aesthetic towards some of the summer’s most action-oriented words.

Jon’s work mirrors his badass self, combining elements of old-school New York, edgy street art and early 20th century typesetting. This melting pot of influences has birthed an inimitable style that’s currently in high demand, and he’s lent his hand to everything from boutique apparel design to international alcohol ads. His work clearly runs the gamut, and delivers in a big way every time.

So, we knew he’d be perfect for the life-in-the-fast-lane week of Riding, as well as the edgier days of Jamming (he is a musician after all) and Competing weeks.

To see his full scope of work during the Summer of Doing, head over here.

And for more of Jon’s work, check out his website, Facebook page and blog, and follow him on Twitter and Instagram
